I closed my eyes, my chest still burning. I scrambled to my paws and a terror rushed through me that I had never experienced from being with my ancestors before. I didn't answer Hawkstar, I just sprinted out of the cavern, my heart pounding.

I look at him and shake my head, blood pounding in my ears. I twitch my ears towards Springfoot and say "It's not the time nor place." I had suspicions about what that prophecy meant, and I was scared that they were true.

She was still ignoring her brother but followed at a good pace eager to get back.

This puzzled her but she shook away the thought and quickly sped up to catch up with her brother and Amberleaf.

I dashed one more time to get to get to our makeshift camp before Hawkstar. I then stand there and look to the sky. i look back to Hawkstar. It is not Moonhigh yet, but it is close. "Do you know your deputy?" I say, thinking back to the naming ceremony and who Firestar recommended.

I look up from my kits and stand, narrowing my eyes at Hawkstar. I yowl, "Spring...Star is leader! you have no right to be up there!" I walk forward slightly, nudging my kits with me. Stonekit tumbled forward.

"I didn't choose this or ask for it, I was just as baffled as you all. It's a burden to know, and our future will not be easy but I will try to lead us through. In fact, Firestar himself recommended who to select as Springclans deputy." He paused to see the reaction of the angry queen and his confused clan mates.

My ears pricked. He's going with Shadeheart? Maybe I should have told him the prophecy.... He might choose Springfoot as his deputy then, and it might not come true... I shook my head, twitching my tail. Forget about that, I think. I look up at Hawkstar. The prophecy is going to come true either way, just as deputy, Springfoot would have more power.

I looked up at Hawkstar and growled. I didn't really believe him, but when I looked to the medicine cat, she looked as though she knew he was telling the truth. Firestar himself? I think, puzzled. Who... I look around. I let out a growl when I look at certain cats, but end up just looking back at the leader. "How do we know Firestar chose this cat?" I say loudly, with a growl.

"You must trust me on this, if you cannot trust me to lead you then How can you trust anyone? You cannot, trust and loyalty is something we will all learn with time. Now the deputy, Shadeheart you were selected by our anscestors to become the deputy of Springclan. Unless their is another grieving, shadow clan, queen, with kits then feel free to doubt me." He said.

She looked at the queen, strong, fierce, hardheaded, but loyal in the end, a good choice for sure. She decided.

I started to form a retort as he spoke, until he said that I was the deputy. I kind of hit me. Everything I was about to say doubled back and hit me in the face. Don't think like that! I said sharply to myself. That would hurt. This is only shocking. I look up at him. "Firestar.. Chose... Me? With kits and all?" I say softly, then louder, so everyone could here. I looked him in the eyes, curiosity mingling through me. "Me?" I exclaimed.
